Damascus, Syria
The Syrian Saudi Business Council participated in the launch of the Charter of Joint Syrian Business Councils and the accompanying guidebook for council presidents and founders. This landmark launch took place during the National Conference for Private Sector Dialogue PSD in Damascus, under the auspices of the Syrian Council for the Coordination of Joint Business Councils.
A Strategic Institutional Shift
The charter establishes a unified institutional framework aimed at organizing the Syrian private sector's economic relations with partner countries. It marks a strategic transition from individual initiatives and personal relations to a structured, measurable institutional network capable of driving effective economic diplomacy.
During the event, the Minister of Economy and Industry, Mr. Mohammad Nidal Al Shaar, highlighted that this charter aligns with the state's broader direction to rebuild its economic tools on mature institutional foundations. He emphasized that business councils will now serve as organized channels directly contributing to national economic priorities.
Furthermore, Mr. Ahmad Rawad Ramadan, President of the Syrian Council for the Coordination of Business Councils, explained that operating within a unified national system provides the private sector with a more cohesive institutional voice before partner countries. He noted that the new framework relies heavily on participatory governance, institutional discipline, and a strong focus on developmental impact.
Four Strategic Pillars
The newly launched charter focuses on four primary objectives designed to meet the real needs of the Syrian economy:
Boosting Syrian Exports: Helping national companies navigate quality requirements and access foreign markets effectively.
Attracting Investments: Building reliable, organized channels to connect with Syrian expatriates and international investors.
Securing Business Opportunities: Transforming councils into active platforms for business matchmaking, B2B meetings, and trade missions.
Enhancing Global Competitiveness: Improving the overall efficiency and reliability of the Syrian private sector in international arenas.
Commitment of the Syrian Saudi Business Council
The Syrian Saudi Business Council reaffirms its complete commitment to this new institutional vision. By aligning with these unified national objectives, the Council aims to elevate its role as a vital economic bridge. The SSBC will continue to utilize this structured framework to support sustainable economic growth, facilitate impactful investments, and build robust cross border partnerships between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
